Iona Verity

For my final college project I wanted to bridge the gap of patterns between the the natural world and the urban landscape. to do this in textile I created an entire outfit from my own works of art.

For the top I created a corset where each panel was a different lino print repeat pattern from images I had taken within city centres and urban areas. I kept this black and white so it would stand out against the colours of the natural skirt.

For the skirt I created a patchwork high low skirt made from fabrics I had naturally dyed from ingredients I had sourced from the natural world. I joined this with coloured embroideries of urban buildings to build a link between the two contrasting garments.
